Food Systems Stocktake: Four months to go
Published 3/20/2025

The UN’s Food Systems Summit Stocktake (UNFSS+4) is taking place in Addis Ababa on 27-29 July. This event follows the first Stocktake in 2023 (UNFSS+2), and brings together member states, civil society, farmers, youth and many others committed to accelerating sustainable, inclusive, and resilient food systems transformation. Global CEO of Compassion in World Farming, Philip Lymbery will be attending as a member of the UN Food Systems Advisory Board.
The UN Food Systems Coordination Hub has launched a major questionnaire for non-state actors, including education and research institutions, producers, the private sector, youth, women, Indigenous Peoples, workers, trade unions, and more. It is seeking inputs on efforts and experiences in food transformation – at the local, national, regional and global level. These will help shape the agenda at UNFSS+4. The deadline is 27 March.
The Hub is also providing a platform for academia, civil society, financial institutions and the private sector, as well as Member States and UN agencies, in a series of regional meetings from March to May. Taking place in Switzerland, Chile, Lebanon and Kenya, both online and in-person, these will focus on regional accountability, progress, and unlocking investment for food systems transformation.
Young voices will be amplified at the Preparatory Youth Conference, taking place in Thailand, in mid-May. This will collect vital youth perspectives and inspire the next generation of food systems changemakers.
