David is Chair of Theology and Applied Sciences at the University of Aberdeen. He is author of the ground-breaking two volume monograph On Animals (Bloomsbury 2012/2019) exploring the place of non-human animals in Christian theology and ethics. He co-founded CreatureKind in 2015, which aims to transform Christian attitudes and practices toward animals, and launched the DefaultVeg campaign for plant-based catering defaults. He was Principal Investigator for the AHRC-funded Christian Ethics of Farmed Animal Welfare project, engaging UK churches at a national level with policy recommendations for the consumption of animal products.
