William Gildea is a postdoctoral researcher in philosophy at McGill University and the Centre for Research in Ethics. His research concerns the basis of human equality and animal rights. It asks whether we can defend human equality without also accepting animal equality; what animal equality would mean for our ethics; and what our collective obligations towards animals are. He has a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Warwick, a BPhil in Philosophy from the University of Oxford, and a BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, also from Warwick.
