Challenge Tesco...
...to improve their record on standard chicken welfare
Take action now by urging Tesco to stop selling meat from the most intensively farmed chickens:
Dear Sir Terry Leahy,
As one of your regular customers, I urge Tesco to do the right thing for chickens.
Tesco is currently stocking at 38kg/m2 (19 birds per square meter), which doesn't even meet the Government's code of recommendations. Intensively reared chickens live in barren and crowded conditions, many in pain suffering from painful leg disorders and dying of heart failure due to the unnaturally fast growth rates.
Tesco could decide to be the leader on chicken welfare.
Please do the right thing and move all standard chicken to a minimum of RSPCA freedom food or equivalent.
